Premises management

The building and site are currently managed by Engie as part of the PFI arrangement the academy operates under.

Inside our building

The working environment at the academy is modern and attractive, reflecting not only our beautiful setting but also the high standards that we expect of our students.

Students enjoy using our purpose built science labs, arts centre, design and technology equipment, sports facilities, music rooms and kitchens. The building also boasts numerous quiet study areas for reflective thought, independent study or quiet reading.

We also ensure that effort is put into displays, which are designed to be stimulating and informative for all, promoting achievements and rewarding excellent work. As a result, our building is a vibrant, welcoming and interesting space in which to learn and work.

The great outdoors

Our Eco Club makes the most of our beautiful outdoor space, where students learn how to grow plants and vegetables using sustainable gardening practices while gaining a deeper understanding of how we can coexist harmoniously with animals and insects. Students will acquire practical skills in safely constructing structures for our gardens, which will be used to grow vegetables and raise seedlings.

Our thriving vegetable gardens offer students the opportunity to explore innovative gardening methods, such as “No Dig Gardening,” and discover how companion planting can protect our crops from pests and diseases. We are also fortunate to have a small orchard, which provides a bountiful harvest each year. The fruits are shared with the Tuxford community and even given out during our Year 6 open evening!

As a group, we would like to take a moment to pay tribute to Alan Hardy, whose passion and dedication has helped create an incredible foundation for our students. Alan was the schools full time gardener and was responsible for bringing our brilliant gardens to life. He worked with all the students in the academy and left a lasting impression on many. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through Eco Club, where students continue to thrive, working together, and make a lasting positive impact on the environment.
